Who is Stay Well Man?
About Mark Webster
“Why do so many try to create a holistic picture of health,
only using a few pieces of the jigsaw puzzle?” - Mark Webster
Mark is one of New Zealand's only pharmacist and Integrative Health Practitioner with a Masters in Integrative Medicine. For over 25 years he has been treating the causes of chronic illness, not just the symptoms, and helping patients finally get answers after years of being told nothing is wrong. With a long list of qualifications and awards, he is a leader in his field.
Mark’s Story
Mark Webster grew up with eczema and asthma. Years of doctor visits, prescriptions, and creams gave him temporary relief but never resolved the underlying cause. It was not until he studied pharmacy at the Otago School of Pharmacy and began understanding the relationship between nutrition, lifestyle, and health that he started to see a different way.
After graduating in 1990 and working in pharmacies across New Zealand and the UK, Mark founded Stay Well Pharmacy in Hornby, Christchurch in 2001. His vision from the start was a pharmacy that helped people stay healthy, not just manage illness.
In 2005 he joined ACNEM (the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine) and began exploring the role of food in chronic conditions. After removing gluten from his own diet, his eczema and asthma cleared up entirely. He has been a committed practitioner of what he preaches ever since.
Mark was diagnosed with osteoporosis at 39. Rather than proceed immediately to hip replacement surgery, he designed a supplement and exercise programme, including turmeric, fish oil, magnesium, and his karate practice, and delayed surgery by eight years. His approach is always the same: understand the cause, build a plan, and take the long view.

What a consultation with Mark looks like
When you come to see Mark, he takes a 360-degree approach to your health. He reads your pre-consultation form before you arrive, so the appointment is spent understanding you, not filling in paperwork.
He will ask about your current medications and what you've already tried, your diet and eating patterns, your sleep and stress levels, your family health history, and any test results you have. He looks at the full picture, not just the presenting symptom.
Every medication has nutritional and biological consequences. Some are positive, some are negative. Mark's goal is to understand how your medications are working together, identify any gaps or interactions, and build a plan that maximises your health rather than just managing your condition.
Where appropriate, Mark works alongside your GP and other specialists. He is a pharmacist first, which means he understands the conventional medical system and can communicate with it effectively. He will not ask you to abandon treatment that is working, but he will help you understand what else is possible.
